Garibaldi...The most beautiful lakes in the worl

 /
Garibaldi Provincial Park (established in 1920, 1,946.5 km2) is a wild mountain located 64 km north of Vancouver. It is accessible by a path from the 99 freeway, north of Squamish.
natural History

The mountains of recent volcanic origin, dominate the park and amounted to 2,678 m at Mount Garibaldi. Lava from the mountain Price caused a dam, creating the Garibaldi lake with a depth of 300 m. Subsequently, erosion, particularly that caused by glaciers also still present in altitude, carved peaks, including Black Tusk, and hollow valleys. The result is a landscape of rugged beauty breathtaking.

Below 1500 m above sea level is a dense forest of Douglas fir, western red cedar and western hemlock. Above this limit grow mountain hemlock, yellow CYPRESS, subalpine fir and whitebark pine. It grows in alpine regions, often covered with eternal snow, heather and wild flowers. Large mammals are scarce, but there is a lot of marmots, squirrels, ptarmigan, Canada tits and golden eagles.
human History

In 1860, Mount Garibaldi is named captain of the Royal Navy, George Richards, in honor of an Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi. The place is difficult to access, the man does not exploit this region. The ski resort of Whistler is located just a little north-west.
